Sunstruck
Steamboat Point, Yellowstone Lake, Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, USA
Beaming across the ancient Yellowstone lake, the rays of the setting sun struck the tree and set it aglow. The large lake is fresh water and is in the massive caldera that is the Yellowstone Super Volcano.
The lake is surrounded by thermal features like the famous Old Faithful Geyser or the misting geysers of the Middle Geyser Basin. The variety of the splendid geysers is astounding with large shallow pools, and small deep tubes of many colors.
The park is named after the yellow rock that can be clearly seen in the walls of the canyon cut by the Yellowstone River and mighty waterfall.
