Himalaya Shadows
Leh, Ladakh, India
The collision of the Eurasian and Indian tectonic plates created the Himalayan Mountains. The stark appearance of the seemingly barren surroundings hides the life that survives in the valleys between.
These clouds shadowed the mountains behind and darkened the ridge in the forefront, showing the contrast that is the Himalayas. At twelve thousand feet up the clear air made for beautiful blue skies and the steep mountains created their own weather with billowing clouds. Often storms would pull moisture out of the sky to wet the dry landscape.
